Through the metaphor

Cookies are baked by the batch, never just one—a plate set out so that everyone can take some and no one is left empty-handed. The ESFJ keeps a group warm in the same way, making sure each person is included and looked after.

A batch is made for others by habit—handed round at gatherings, brought to a neighbor, the kind of sweet whose whole purpose is to be given away. The ESFJ likewise binds people with warmth and tends the small rituals that keep a group together.

But a baker who wants every cookie to please will keep them sweet and avoid anything that might not go down well. Reading approval so closely, the ESFJ can swallow the firm word a friend actually needs—and quietly bristle at the one who takes the plate for granted.
