What is A Comet?

A comet is a small body of ice, dust, and rock that orbits the Sun. As it nears the Sun, its warming ices release gas and dust, forming a glowing coma and a long tail.

Through the metaphor

A comet swings in from the far edge of the system on a long, unusual orbit, and when it nears the Sun it suddenly flares into a bright head and a streaming tail. The ENTP arrives the same way in a conversation—coming at things from an unexpected direction and lighting them up with a fresh, provoking angle.

Its strength is a bright, improvisational wit. Where others move on fixed, predictable orbits, the comet takes the path no one saw coming and leaves a trail that lingers. The ENTP works this way too—quick and adaptable, energized by the live exchange where a fresh idea beats a rehearsed one.

But a body that lives for the bright pass can keep swinging back out to the cold and never settle into a lasting orbit. Drawn to the next dramatic approach, the comet may flare, dazzle, and vanish before its work is finished. The ENTP can drift the same way: opening brilliant new arcs, but following few of them all the way through.

Strengths & challenges in this light

Through this lens, the ENTP's strengths come down to the bright wit that arrives from an unexpected direction and the adaptability that thrives in a live exchange. The challenges grow from the same root: living for the dramatic pass so much that it never settles into a lasting orbit, opening more arcs than it follows through. For the comet's light to last, it has to stay close long enough to finish one bright pass before swinging away.
