Through the metaphor

The ranger does not loose an arrow at every shape in the brush; they wait, read the wind and the distance, then take the one clean shot. The ISTP stays cool and detached until the moment is right, then acts with exact, economical skill.

Between shots, the ranger melts into the wilderness, asking no one's help and explaining nothing, reading the terrain alone. The ISTP is self-reliant and practical too, quietly working out how things function without needing an audience.
