Through the metaphor

The beaver builds its dam one log at a time, in order, never skipping a step. The ISTJ works the same way—steady, methodical, finishing what it starts, because a half-built dam holds back no water at all.

The dam the beaver builds gives the whole pond its stability; the structure holds, and so others can live there. The ISTJ is the dependable one whose quiet, consistent work everyone leans on without even noticing.

But the beaver trusts the dam that has always held, and when the river changes course, it keeps reinforcing the old wall. The same diligence that builds so well can resist tearing down what no longer fits.
