Through the metaphor

A moonstone's light does not sit on the surface; a soft sheen floats up from somewhere deep inside, shifting as you move. The INFJ perceives much the same way—catching the feelings a person has not yet put into words, the currents that move below what is said.

The glow comes from layers hidden within the stone, scattering light from out of sight. The INFJ, too, pairs that depth of insight with an unwavering ideal—giving its quiet strength to what it judges truly worth protecting, rather than to whatever is loudest.

But the stone that catches every faint light is the one whose own glow is hardest to see from outside. Reading everyone else's depths, the INFJ tends to hide its own—bearing its weight alone and saying nothing until its strength runs low.

Strengths & challenges in this light

Through this lens, the INFJ's strengths come down to the insight that reads the unspoken and the steady sense of purpose that will not bend. The challenges grow from the same root: always attuned to others' depths, it hides its own glow and bottles things up until it burns out. For the moonstone to keep its light, it needs to let someone see its own depths before its glow runs low.
